About this Program
This journey is a professional starting point for anyone taking responsibility for groups outdoors. It combines essential facilitation skills with basic outdoor awareness and strong self‑management — so you can guide learning processes that are safe, ethical, and meaningful.
Throughout the course, we will explore key questions:
- How do people learn and grow — individually and in groups — and what does this mean for my role as a youth outdoor leader and facilitator?
- How can I safely and meaningfully design, facilitate, and hold learning processes in outdoor and nature-based settings?
- How do I communicate, lead, and respond effectively — including feedback, emotions, and conflict — across diverse group situations?
You will learn how to:
- Understand learning and facilitation processes: apply core learning models, understand group development, distinguish facilitation from training and coaching, and work consciously with emotional intelligence and feedback culture.
- Communicate effectively and hold group processes, use clear, respectful, and non-violent communication; give and receive feedback and feedforward; recognize conflict dynamics; and create safe, open interaction in diverse group settings.
- Facilitate responsibly in outdoor environments: apply essential outdoor skills such as camp management, first aid, and risk management, and integrate safety and awareness into outdoor facilitation processes.
- Design and deliver impactful outdoor learning programs: develop agendas and curricula, prepare and co-facilitate sessions, navigate group dynamics in real time, and evaluate learning processes with confidence and presence.
